Nike SB x Civilist Dunk Benefit Raffle
We are all witnessing the civil unrest overwhelming our nation.
We have the freedom to choose turning a blind eye or taking action. We here at Homebase have been inspired by shops in the skateboarding community who have chosen to take a stand for social justice not only with their voices but also their own money during a time when our collective financial futures are uncertain.
We are not so bold to suggest we have a solution for the shootings, the protests, the pandemic or the strain on our mental health but we do believe that it is our responsibility to take actions that will empower and educate the BIPoC youth who will have to live with the mess we have made.
Homebase will be donating 100% of the sales of the Nike SB x Civilist Dunks to a local grassroots organization, Afros in Nature because we believe they will play an important role in healing the sustained trauma to current & future generations.
THE RAFFLE IS NOW CLOSED.
Entry to the raffle will close at 12pm EST on August 30th.
Only selected winners will be contacted to complete their donation.
"When the Berlin Wall was finally demolished in 1991, Berlin’s Mitte District was reunited and became the epicenter for the countercultural rave movement that had been evolving in both East and West Berlin. Civilist pays homage to the raver culture that developed in their hood with the new Civilist Dunk Low.
At first glance, the Civilist Dunk Low appears to be a low-profile, black leather skate shoe. But once it is exposed to a little heat, it reveals a thermochromatic pattern that would be right at home on a rave dancefloor." - Nike SB

Learn more about Afros in Nature.
Founded in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Afros in Nature is a grassroots movement to connect Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) with nature. Our mission is to plant seeds of safety in natural environments so that individuals of color—regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, creed, or economic status—can create self-sustaining lifestyles with love, support, and community.
Working in groups, Afros in Nature brings BIPOC back to their roots in the great outdoors. We are taking a pastime historically dominated by white culture and showing BIPOC how to take advantage of its benefits for themselves, for the betterment of their health and well being, and the improvement of our community as a whole. We are teaching BIPOC how to find healing and
wholeness again in nature and in one another.
With more than 7.5 million African-Americans diagnosed with mental illness, and as many as 7.5 million more affected but undiagnosed, we cannot afford to ignore the well being of ourselves and our community. Afros in Nature is committed to addressing mental health concerns through nature-based healing and therapeutic activities, including hikes, nature walks, communal gardening, and sustainable food cultivation.
